Alanromans.com in partnership with Thompson & Morgan are the first in the world to offer completely disease free potato minitubers to the gardener. These are grown on micropropagated plants in Scotland, produced in a hydroponic or sterile compost system in screened laboratory polytunnels. Now that we are allowed to sell conservation tubers grown in an inspected regime wihin the EU, this is the logical follow-on from the microplants we used to sell. We continue to sell some field grown Approved Stock but the availability of these has proved a little unpredictable. 
Minitubers, particularly the largest size (25mm+), are very vigorous yet easily mailed in a bubble envelope. They will grow well in the garden 12" (30cm) apart and will suit all sorts of container growing as well.
 The use of micropropagation provides long term secure storage of conservation varieties and allows relatively rapid re-introduction of these old varieties when there is a demand.
Shipping will commence in March after a period of cold storage to prepare them for immediate planting if conditions allow. If conditions are adverse then a short period of "chitting" in cool, frost free, light conditions would be the best course. Our prices for minitubers are inclusive of p&p.
