Most of these varieties are no longer on the National List or EC Common Catalogue. For decades they have not been available. In very recent times some has been produced as field grown "Approved Stock" and some limited sales were allowed. For the first time this year these have now been issued with normal EC2 labels - Super Elite or Elite. Most have only one grower experimenting with these. Many may fall by the wayside in future years and in my opinion the laboratory produced minitubers are the most sustainable way of keeping small quantities of these rare varieties going for the enthusiast (see Potato Minituber Section).
