This classic, old fashioned favourite produces immense, single heads on 2.5m stems. The blooms have dark chocolate centres surrounded by bright golden petals. In a recent 'Gardeners' World' trial Giant Single did 'brilliantly, scoring high in every department'.
Sowing Instructions
Sow outdoors in spring in well cultivated soil. Sow 1/2in deep and 12 ins apart. For earlier flowering, sow indoors in individual pots. When well grown, gradually harden off and plant out after the last frosts. They prefer a sunny, open site but will grow almost anywhere. To prolong the flowering period, make two sowings 14 days apart. Leave some flowerheads to feed the birds in autumn and early winter.
