Basil 'Sweet Genovese' (HHA)

This is the traditional pesto variety which comes from the Genoa region of Italy. It is widely used in Mediterranean cuisine, particularly in tomato salads, soups and sauces.

Sowing Instructions

Sow in March in trays of seed compost, lightly covering the seeds. Seal inside a polythene bag until seedlings emerge. Transplant into 3ins pots when they are large enough to handle. When well grown, gradually harden off before planting out in sheltered position after last frosts. In cooler, more northerly areas the plants can be grown on in larger pots and placed in a window sill, greenhouse or coldframe.
