Borage

This attractive upright annual has rough silvery foliage and pretty, deep blue flowers. It is nectar rich and therefore very attractive to bees and other pollinating insects so it's worth planting a few clumps among the veg as well as in the herb garden. The young leaves have a cucumber flavour and are often added to cool summer drinks as well as soups, sauces and stir fries. It is high in calcium and potassium and is traditionally used to ease bronchial and lung ailments.

Sowing Instructions

Sow in spring in drills 12ins apart and thin to 12ins when the seedlings are large enough to handle. Will grow almost anywhere but prefers a sunny spot.
