Chives (HP)

Chives are a member of the onion family and originally came from China where they have been used for over a thousand years. They are attractive plants with tubular, grass-like leaves and pretty, lavender, puff ball flowers. The leaves are delicious in omelettes, scrambled eggs, cream cheese and salads and, finely chopped, can be sprinkled over new potatoes. The flowers are also edible and make a colourful garnish for salads.(39cm/12ins)

Sowing Instructions

Sow indoors in spring in trays of moist seed compost. When large enough to handle, transplant bunches of seedlings into pots and harden off before planting out after all risk of frost has passed. Prefers a sunny site,
