This was bred by the company (Cygnet PB) which owns what is left of the Maris setup. The breeding is still done in the Cambridge area by Nigel Starling but much of the trialing and selection is done at the company base in Scotland. Cabaret is an attractive Maris Piper type and commercially it is making inroads into the chipping industry. It is productive, has good flavour and has more disease resistant than Piper.
