This is a red Jack Dunnett variety named after the island off his native Caithness. It is pretty although the colour is not as strong as showbench exhibitors like. It has quite high yields, a mild flavour and good cooking characteristics. Its disease resistance includes partial double eelworm resistance. It is rarely found in horticultural outlets and a small number of my “waxy” friends are on a quest to change this.
