This was the very unexpected product of a Jack Dunnett Stroma cross. It is white and very early. The “bird” series name is an appropriate pun. It is attractive and has had some success in early season shows. It produces fewer but larger tubers than Rocket. The foliage is very short and this is one of the best varieties for growing in pots or under polythene, glass or fleece. The disease resistance is good and includes partial double eelworm resistance.
