Golden Wonder
This is the Scottish russet sport of James Clark’s English variety, Maincrop (or Langworthy). It was found by Mr Brown of Arbroath and is still very highly regarded in Scotland. It is dry, floury and very tasty, particularly if stored until after New Year. It can be extraordinarily dry when grown in the sunnier south. We have secured a good sample from an area still clear of virus A - this is causing some problems with Golden Wonder in some areas.
