Rooster
This TEAGASC variety quickly became a major variety in Ireland rivalling Kerr’s Pink, despite being subject to Plant Variety Rights. It gathered a real word of mouth reputation for good flavour and texture among gardeners and farm shop customers in the UK and has now been taken up by a major packer, Bartletts, with lots of TV and supermarket promotion. A little late for garden growing and lacks eelworm and blight resistance but it is a modern classic. We have been asked by Bartletts not to sell any more for reasons we do not understand. Stock is set at zero. We would like to assure existing customers that the seed came from Bartletts and was certified.
