Salsify (Vegetable Oyster)

Admittedly, this is not the prettiest of root vegetables but boiled, steamed or roasted, it has a delicious, delicate, oyster-like flavour. Well worth a try!

Sowing Instructions

Sow in growing position in March or April in drills 0.5ins deep and 12ins apart. Thin out to 9ins apart when large enough to handle and keep well watered. Harvest in September or October. They can be stored in frost free conditions in boxes of sand until required.
