Aubergine 'Red Egg'

 A native of South America, 'Red Egg' fruits throughout the summer and provides a plentiful supply of attractive, bright red, tennis ball sized aubergines. Its striking appearance makes it an ideal subject for patio container growing. Best eaten just as fruits are changing from orange to red.

Sowing Instructions

For greenhouse plants sow from January to April and from March to April for outdoor plants. Cover seeds with a quarter inch layer of compost and place in propagator or warm area. Keep the surface of the compost moist but not waterlogged. When large enough to handle, transplant seedlings into 3 inch pots and then into 8 inch containers. Feed every fortnight with tomato fertilizer once first fruits have set. For outdoor crops, harden off before planting out in a warm sheltered spot.
