Red Craigs Royal
This is a red variation of the second early Craigs Royal (1947), famous for yield and flavour. It was found and propagated by Mr Marshall of Dunning, Perthshire in 1957. It quickly became Britain's most comon second early displacing even British Queen. The arrival of Wilja and Estima in the late 1970s along with changes in the market led to Red Craigs Royal disappearing almost overnight, leaving many dismayed. As a result it has been one of the most requested revivals with keen gardeners still looking for it 30 years after its demise.
