Leaf Beet (Swiss Chard)'Bright Yellow'

Its thick golden stalks make this variety a striking addition to the veg plot or even the flower border. They can be steamed as a vegetable or, when young, eaten raw in salads. The leaves make an excellent spinach substitute and can be harvested throughout the summer. The plants are slow to bolt and, in many areas, will re-emerge after a normal winter to give an early spring crop.

Sowing Instructions

Sow in spring for a summer/autumn crop or in late summer for an autumn/ spring crop. Sow very thinly 1in. deep inrows 12ins apart. Gradually thin out seedlings to 9ins apart. Harvest leaves as required by snapping the stalks near the base of the plant.
