Melon 'Ogen'

Originally from Israel, 'Ogen' was originally developed on a kibbutz where the secrets of the variety were carefully guarded for many years. It's now generally regarded as being one of the tastiest melons available to gardeners in the U.K.. The fruits are green skinned with sweet, aromatic, pale green flesh and can be harvested from mid summer onwards.

Sowing Instructions

Sow in individual 3ins. pots of moist seed compost in early spring. Pot up as required before finally planting 3ft. apart in the greenhouse border or coldframe. Pinch out the growing point when five leaves have formed and provide support. Pollinate by placing a male flower inside a female flower. (Female flowers have a swollen base.)
